Helen holds an LLM in Human Rights and Criminal Justice from Queen’s University Belfast. She has around fifteen years experience researching and campaigning on behalf of NGOs, community groups and grassroots organisations towards the better realisation of human rights. Helen has a particular interest in the domestic implementation of international human rights standards and has worked to find ways to better facilitate access to UN monitoring mechanisms for those engaged in grassroots human rights work both in the UK and Latin America. Helen is a proud member of the board of the Northern Ireland Rural Women’s Network.

Kate is a researcher at Just Fair.  She has a LLM in European and Global Law from Pompeu Fabra University in Barcelona where she is now working on a PhD in law alongside her role at Just Fair. The focus of her research is on work time and the minimum wage in the social care sector. Prior to her studies, Kate practised as an employment rights solicitor in London advising and representing trade unions and their members, with a specific interest in discrimination law and minimum wage enforcement.  She remains on the roll in England and Wales as a non-practising solicitor.  Kate has been at Just Fair since November 2021.

Katrin has worked in human rights and social justice for over 15 years. Prior to joining Just Fair, Katrin worked for the British Institute of Human Rights, most recently in the role of Programmes and Policy Lead. She has extensive experience of supporting people to use human rights to achieve positive change and engaging with parliamentarians to secure rights protections.  Prior to working specifically on human rights, Katrin established and ran an advocacy service for a disability rights charity in London supporting people to be heard on key issues such as health, social care and housing. Outside of work Katrin enjoys dancing, gardening, cold water swimming, walking up hills and travelling as much as possible. 

Mairead joined Just Fair in August 2024 as Finance and Operations Officer. 

Mairead has over 20 years’ experience working in civil society organisations as a finance professional, consultant and charity examiner.  Mairead has worked with a variety of groups including a number of UK rights-based organisations.  She has a B.A. (hons) in accounting and finance and is a full member of the Association of Accounting Technicians. 

Mairead is passionate about working with groups who champion social justice, and enjoys long walks with her dogs in the countryside. 

Maya joined Just Fair in October 2025. She has worked as a researcher across diverse contexts, including with the NGO Penny Appeal on malnutrition among Rohingya refugees; at the cross-party think tank Demos shaping public policy on food security and local economic growth post-Covid; and most recently at UCL documenting state-perpetrated atrocities. Alongside her research, she brings operational experience, having organised international and domestic conferences and managed human resources and digital communications for a range of organisations. Maya is a part-time PhD candidate at the University of Essex, researching transnational mobilisation, state repression, and diaspora politics. In her spare time, she volunteers with The Listening Place as a Supervising Volunteer, and enjoys cooking, baking, and dancing.

Laura joined Just Fair in June 2023.  Before joining, Laura worked for Peace Brigades International on campaigning and advocacy, supporting community-led efforts to claim and defend rights across Latin America, Africa, and Asia. Prior to this, she fundraised for women’s health, youth homelessness, and international development charities. She has an LLM in Human Rights from Birkbeck, where she focused on inequity and social exclusion in the UK and Europe. 

Alex joined Just Fair in August 2022. Prior to joining, Alex worked for Human Rights Watch on research and advocacy, particularly on issues related to housing, poverty, and inequality in the UK. He has also worked in a variety of other roles, including with refugees, supporting an MP in the UK’s Parliament, and in Palestine on an education project.  Alex holds a degree in History and a MSc in the Politics of Conflict, Rights, and Justice from the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS).

Ben joined Just Fair in January 2025.   Before joining, Ben worked as a Project Worker at Stand Against Racism & Inequality (SARI) in Bristol, supporting victims of hate crime, hate incident and discrimination across the South West of England, and Changing Futures Bristol as an Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Officer. Here, he assisted a government funded programme in its work supporting people with multiple disadvantage.

Ben has an LLM in International Human Rights Law from the University of Liverpool, where he focused on transitional and restorative justice for the Windrush Generation. During his masters, Ben also worked as a Research Assistant, supporting research on the European Convention on Human Rights. In his spare time Ben is an avid cyclist and rugby player.

Emma joined Just Fair as a Research and Policy Intern in June 2026, where she works on the right to health under the strategic lead, Katrin McEntee. Her work focuses on researching how grassroots and community-led initiatives contribute to the growing recognition of the right to health in the UK. Emma is interested in pursuing a career in health policy, with a particular focus on developing healthcare services that are more accessible responsive, and sensitive to the needs of marginalised communities. She holds a BSc in International Relations from LSE.
