The latest snapshot from the Equality and Human Rights Commission published on 20 of May 2021 of how well the UK Government is meeting its international human rights obligations makes for very depressing reading. There is regression in many areas including human rights and equality legal frameworks, inclusive education, poverty, and adequate standard of living. There is no progress across almost all others.
As we know, the Covid pandemichas had a significant impact on socio-economic rights and the full impact is yet to be understood. We will continue to hold the UK Government to account with our specialist ESCR monitoring and evidence-based research and advocacy, together with our grassroots social rights movement building. Working with allies we will also continue to push for enactment of S1 of the Equality Act 2010 – the socio-economic duty.
We will continue to stand up for human rights.
