The Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) commissioned Just Fair to prepare an independent parallel report on the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (ICESCR), on behalf of civil society in England and Wales, ahead of the United Nations’ Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (UN CESCR) next review of the UK. Over 70 civil society organisations and individuals from across England and Wales have come together to provide evidence for our report to the United Nations Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights.

Report background
The aim of this project has been to empower and support civil society to hold the UK and Welsh governments to account for their obligations under ICESCR. Specifically, the project has involved:
- Consultation with a wide range of civil society organisations (CSOs) on robust, relevant evidence, and recommendations to promote and protect socio-economic and cultural rights in England and Wales.
- Raising the understanding, awareness, and capacity of CSOs, through webinars and events on the ICESCR review process.
- Drafting and submitting an independent, accurate, and comprehensive shadow report co-signed by a coalition of CSOs and stakeholders from across England and Wales.
Evidence submitted
